It was a beautiful and late summer day at one of my favourite venues, the Gathered. As I walked through the gardens, excitement was building, as I knew that through friendship and collaboration, today would be a special and memorable one.
A few months prior, Heather from Wild Rose Weddings and Workshops had asked me if I wanted to take part in one of her portfolio builder – workshop series. She said we would, “Spend the day within the beautiful countryside of Alberta for an elopement. This soft and neutral colour palette will surely ignite your creative heart, along with the beautiful venue we get to play in!”
Instantly, I fell in love with the vibe she was going for and knew I wanted to take part. I started my focus on the arch, as I knew I wanted this to be unique. Like a wild overgrown structure that had been sitting there untouched for years, full of wildflowers, vines, and wild roses. I started to forage for dry mixed flowers and foliages for the cloche design we had for the table.
I had an idea of what I wanted the bouquet to look like, but I really let my visit to a flower farm guide me. It came together in a beautiful organic mix of blooms, full of texture. It was an unstructured shape with cascading wildflowers that draped effortlessly. I was a little unsure with the direction I wanted to go with the bride’s hat. It was large and dramatic, so I knew the flowers would need to compliment it in a way that would elevate it, but still feel effortless. I was inspired by European vintage hats worn by ladies from years past. It was a classic feel with a modern approach to floristry, mixing both fresh and dried blooms.
Overall, it was a magical day, filled with countless moments of beauty and I am proud to have collaborated on such a special project.

My studio. A place to work and design without the distractions of the boys running and playing or Rosie barking at another bird flying by. A place to catch my breath and, depending on the mood, something with a catchy tune and good beat, that I can jam out too!
I first met Emma & Steven where all dreams start, Starbucks! Their sense of style was clear in our previous emails, but meeting them in person, added magic and unspoken energy. I knew I wanted to create that same sense of style with their flowers.
Tianna and Zach’s day was set at Sweet Haven Barn, a unique farm venue, surrounded by the beautiful countryside, in the heart of Central Alberta. The floral colour palette was neutral shades of white, cream, caramel with touches of dusty pink.
